These notes ©2018, Andrew Carnie, based on Tineke van Geel's teaching at a workshop in Tucson AZ. These notes were created with Tineke's notes open in front of me, so they are heavily influenced by her notes. The name of the song and dance is a man's name. Tineke learned this dance from Liudvig Poghosian on a folk dance tour in 2007. The dance is part of the shoror family.

Music: Barev-Armenian Dances. Tineke van Geel.
Meter: 6/4 counted with two major dance beats (123)(456). For the purposes of these notes, I'm notating it as two dance beats per bar (1,2)
Formation: Tineke's notes say closed circle (when Tineke taught it to us, however, she did it as an open circle. Hands in pinky finger hold, but with forearms held parallel to the ground with a bent elbow and hands pointing forward. Leads R
Introduction: 2 bars no action, start with singing.

Bar 1: Facing center Step on R to R, hips lead to R, arms sway slightly to R -- Note do not "windshield wiper"!, (1), flex knees down and up (&), Cross L over R, hands sway slightly L -- again not a windshield wiper! (2), flex knees down and up (&)
Bar 2: Step on R to R, hips lead to R, arms sway slightly to R (1), flex knees down and up (&). Touch L toe forward, no weight, arms sway slightly L (2), flex knees down and up (&)
Bar 3: Sway on L, upper body leans to R, look at L hand (1), flex knees down and up (&), Sway on R, upper body leans to the L, look at R hand (2) flex knees down and up (&)
Bar 4:Sway on L, upper body leans to R, look at L hand (1), flex knees down and up (&), Close R next to L, no weight (2), flex knees down and up (&)

repeat until the end of the music. Tineke taught this to a traditional tune and to a modern one. In the modern recording there is a pause near the end of the music, you just linger during the sway on this pause
