Ağir Halay from Erzincan Turkey
These notes ©2018, Andrew Carnie. Taught to us by Harvey Gardner, who learned it from a youtube video. The step is identical to the first step of Delilo. Erzincan is a province in North East Turkey, with lots of Armenian and Kurdish influence in the style of their dances.
Music: Any slow halay music
Meter: 2/4
Formation: Short lines in pinky hold
Introduction: start at the beginning of any musical phrase
Bar 1: Step R forward to diagonal R (1), slight bounce on R while bringing L forward (2)
Bar 2: Repeat bar 1 with opposite footwork
Bar 3: Repeat bar 1
Bar 4: Touch L toe forward (1), slight bounce on R, while kicking L forward and down (2)
Bar 5: Backing out of center, Step backwards on L (1), slight bounce on L, while kicking R forward (2)
Bar 6: Repeat bar 5, with opposite footwork
Bar 7: Repeat bar 5
Bar 8: Touch R toe across L instep (1), kick R foot forward (2)
repeat until the end of the music
