Hora GospodarilorRomania
These notes ©2018, Andrew Carnie. Originally taught by Sonia Dion and Cristian Florescu. The dance is from Suceava (Bucovina). Gospodar means "head of household". This dance was done at weddings by all the married couples at the party, including the bride and groom.

Formation: Open circle, hands in W position. Leads to the R.
Introduction: 16 bars, no action. Start with Clarinet.
Part 1: Hora Mare
Bar 1: facing diagonally R, step R (1), L (2) into the center on the diagonal RBar 2: Step R into the center (1), Touch L toe near R foot, no weight, while pivoting slightly to face the diagonal L (2)
Bars 3-4: repeat the footwork of bars 1-2, except backing away from the center, on the diagonal R (essentially bars 1-4 "cut a piece of pie"
Bars 5-8: repeat bars 1-4
Part 2: Two steps
Bar 1: moving in LOD, step R (1), L (&), R (2)Bar 2: continuing in LOD, step L (1), R (&), L (2)
Bar 3: Turning to face RLOD, Step on R foot backwards in LOD, arms swing down to V position (1), Step backwards in LOD on L (2)
Bar 4: Step R (1), L (2) backing up in LOD
Bar 5: Turning to face center, step R into the center, hands come up to W position, (1), step L (&), R (2) into the center.
Bar 6: Step L into the center (1), then cross R over left with a bend at the waist, hands swing sharply down to V position (2)
Bar 7: Step L (1), R (2), backing out of the center. arms return to W position
Bar 8: Step L (1), R (&), L (2) slightly backwards out of the center.
Alternate the two parts until the end of the music.
