Music: There are several recordings for this. But these notes correspond to Tony Parkes' Calls on the following CD:

  • Crockett's Honeymoon, Yellow Rose of Texas with calls for Grapevine Twist on Yankee Ingenuity "Heating up the hall"
The following recordings are for different versions of the same dance. 
Meter: 2/4
Footwork: Walking step through out, except during swing.
Formation:   Square of couples, facing inwards. M stands on the L of each couple. Hold nearer hands with partner.

Tony Parkes' Version as called on the Yankee Ingenuity CD: Heating up the hall

This version differs from many versions in that rather than 1s just going straight into a circle with couple 2, Couple 1 does the twist formation around couple 2. Tony also put in a mini-break before the 4th repetition of the figure. 

Intro:

Bars 1-8: Bow to Partner, Bar to Corner, Bar to opposite across the hall
Bars 9-16: M pass R shoulders in the middle to swing opposite Lady
Bar 17-24: M pass Right shoulders in the middle to swing own.
Bars 25-32: Promenade CW around the square back to original places.

Figure:

Bars 1-8: 1st. couple, holding nearer hands, with M in the lead, dance between the partners of the couple to the R (2ndcouple). Then loop, back to back around the W, back into the center. Do a short Clockwise Loop in the center, then M leads Back through between 2ndcouple and around the gent.
Bars 9-16: 1st couple and 2nd  circle CW in the center. Open the circle with M1 in the lead and go between 3rd couple
Bars 17-24: Back around 3rd lady, and loop CW in center, and then around the M3
Bars 25-32: Circle 6 in the middle, then start leading between couple 4
Bars 33-40:  Around W4, loop in the middle
Bars 41-48: Around M4, into center
Bars 49-56: Circle 8 CW around.
Bars 57-72   Varies depending upon the repetition
            1stRepetition: 
                        Bars 57-64: Swing partner
                        Bars 65-72: Promenade
            2ndRepetition
                        Bars 57-64: Swing Corner
                        Bars 65-72: Swing Partner
            3rdRepetition:
                        Bars 57-64: W cross  (pass L) toSwing Opposite
                        Bars 65-72: Swing Partner’
            4th Repetition:
                        Bars 57-64: M Swing R Neighbor
                        Bars 65-72: Swing Partner


Break # 1

1-8: Promenade all the way round
9-16: Allemand L, Grand R and L
17-24: Pull By and Grand R &L Home
25-32: Balance & Swing partner.

Break #2 (short)
1-16: (Finish swing) then Allemand L; Promenade all the way around

Ending:

1-8 Allemand L with Corner, R & L Grand ½ way
9-16: Promenade home, Twirl W under

A1: (4)- Bow to your partners, (2)- Bow to your Corners (2)-,
      Bow to the opposite across the hall, hey
A2: Swing the opposite across the hall,
      you ain't swung her tonight at all, (8)- now
B1: Run back home & swing your own,
      Swing your partner there at home, (2)-
      When you're through, promenade go 2 by 2,
B2: Promenade go all the way around,
      when you get back home, settle down (3)-
      1st Couple #1 go out to the right

(Figure Couple # 1)

A1: Take your lady by the wrist
      & around that lady with a grapevine twist,
      Back to the center with a woah haw gee,
      and around that gent you did not see
A2: (2)-Now Circle 4, Circle to the left at the side of the floor,
      Lead up 4 go onto the next, and take your lady by the wrist and
B1: Around that lady with a grapevine twist (2)-
      Take an extra turn in the middle of the square (2)-
      and around the gent who's standing there
B2: (2)- Now Circle 6, Circle to the left till you get fixed
    (2)- Now lead up 6, go onto the last with the gent in the lead,

A1: Take your lady by the wrist
      and around that lady with a grapevine twist
    (2)- Come back to the center of the same ol' track (2)- and
A2: Around the gent go clickety-clack (4)-,
    Now all join hands and circle 8,
      Circle to the left of the garden gate, and
B1: Swing your partners all,
      everybody swing, & everybody whirl (4)-,
    And promenade go around the world,
B2: Promenade on a heel and toe
      and ya get back home and a don't be slow (2)-
      2nd couple #2 go out to the right

      Back to the center with a figure 8
      and around the gent before your late
A2: (2)- Now Circle 4, Circle to the left as you did before,
      Lead up 4 go onto the next and take your lady by the wrist, and
B1: Around that lady with a grapevine twist (2)-,
      Come back to the center in the same old way (2)-,
       and around the gent if it takes all day
B2: (1)- Circle 6 hands round,
       circle to the left in the middle of town
    (2)- Now lead up 6 go onto the last with the gent in the lead,
    
A1: Take your lady by the wrist
      and around that lady with a grapevine twist
    (2)- Come back to the center with a woah haw gee (2)- and
A2: around the gent from Tennessee (4)-
      Now circle 8 hands round you go, click your heel and tap your toe and
B1: Swing - your corners all, the corner swing, the corner dance (4)-
    Now run back home and swing your own,
B2: You swing yours leave mine alone (6)-
    When your done promenade around you run,

(Break #1)

A1: Promenade go 'round the hall
    with a short one, fat one, skinny one, tall (5)-
    On the corner do an
A2: Allemande left on your left hand
    and a right to your partner, right and left grand (4)-
      Go all the way around the ring,
B1: Meet your own give a right pull by, and
    keep on going away you fly (2)-
    When your home you balance and you swing your own
B2: (10)-
    3rd couple #3 go out to the right

    Back to the center with the same intent,
    go thru that couple and around the gent
A2: (2)- Now circle 4, circle to the left at the side of the floor (2)-
    Now lead up 4 and take your lady by the wrist and
B1: around that lady with a grapevine twist (2)-
    Pretty little loop in the middle of the square (2)-
    and around the gent whose standing there
B2: (2)- Now circle 6, circle to the left like pickin' up sticks (2)-
    and lead up 6 go onto the last, with the gent in the lead
  
A1: Take your lady by the wrist
    and around that lady with a grapevine twist (2)-
    come back to the center as you used to do (2)- and
A2: Around the gent before you're thru (4),
    Now all join hands and circle 8,
    circle to the left and don't be late,
B1: 4 ladies listen to the call, swing with the gent across the hall.
    Cheat him and swing, cheat him and swing (4)-
B2: (4)- Now run back home and swing your own,
    don't get caught a cheat'n your own (4)-

(Break #2)

A1: (4)- On the corner Allemande left (2)-
    But you come back one and promenade the one you swung,
A2: Promenade go round the barn,
    and one more time won't do no harm (2)-
    Last couple #4 go out to the right,

B1: Take your lady by the wrist, and
    around that lady with a grapevine twist,
    Back to the center with the same ol' track
    and around the gent take up the slack
B2: (1)- Join hands and circle 4, just the same as you did before,
    Lead up 4 go onto the next, you take your lady by the wrist and

A1: Around that lady with a grapevine twist (2)-
    Come back to the center with a whoa haw gee (2)-
    and around that homely gent you see
A2: (2)- Now circle 6 and ya don't get muddled and ya don't get mixed (2)-
    Now lead up 6, go onto the last and one more time
B1: Take your lady by the wrist
    and around that lady with a grapevine twist (2)-
    Pretty little loop in the middle of the square and
B2: Around that gent who's standing there
    and around that gent who doesn't care,
    Now all join hands and circle 8
    but don't fall down and break your plate

A1: 4 gents listen to the call,
    swing with the lady on your right wall
    One beyond your partners all (4)-
A2: (4)- Now run back home and swing your own
    Aren't you glad the bird ain't flown (4)-

(Ending)

B1: Allemande left on your left hand
    a right to your honey and a right and left grand (4)-
    You meet your own and promenade,
B2: Promenade and your know where
    take them out and give 'em air.
